Talbot County Director of Economic Development & Tourism Stephanie Mervine attended her first Talbot Watermen Association breakfast this week, where she had the opportunity to meet Jeff Harrison, president of the Talbot Watermen’s Association, along with many members of the local watermen community.
During breakfast, she shared her enthusiasm for supporting the county’s working watermen and the broader seafood industry. She is excited to collaborate with the Association and help advance efforts that promote sustainable seafood harvests, preserve our working waterfronts, and strengthen the economic vitality of this essential industry.

The Talbot Watermen Association plays a vital role in promoting Talbot County seafood, supporting the industry through ecological and economic initiatives, and contributing to the health and revitalization of the Chesapeake Bay.
The organization actively advocates public fisheries by staying informed on legislative issues, participating in hearings with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), promoting watermen’s heritage, educating the public about the value of local seafood, and supporting community needs while opposing actions harmful to the Bay.
Director Mervine expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome and emphasized her commitment to building meaningful partnerships with the region’s watermen. Her participation reflects the department’s ongoing focus on industry engagement, economic sustainability, and stewardship of Talbot County’s natural and cultural assets.
