Economic development and tourism may encompass different initiatives, but both depend on strong partnerships, engaged communities, and a shared vision for Talbot County’s future.
Talbot County Economic Development and Tourism Director Stephanie Mervine and Easton Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Holly DeKarske recently joined community members at the Easton Branch of the Talbot County Free Library for Understanding Economic Development and Tourism in Talbot County.
The discussion offered an inside look at how economic development and tourism efforts support businesses, attract visitors and investment, strengthen communities, and contribute to Talbot County’s economy.

Mervine and DeKarske discussed current initiatives, community partnerships, and the ways county and municipal organizations work together to support economic vitality throughout the region. The conversation also highlighted the important connection between tourism and the year-round business community.
Visitors support restaurants, retailers, accommodations, attractions, and service businesses, while a strong local economy helps create the experiences and amenities that make Talbot County an appealing place to visit, live, work, and invest.
Programs such as the library discussion also give residents an opportunity to learn more about the organizations working behind the scenes to support the county’s economic future and the partnerships helping move that work forward.
Talbot County Economic Development and Tourism works to foster a welcoming environment for businesses, entrepreneurs, visitors, and investment while promoting the assets and opportunities that make Talbot County distinctive.
