Disaster Loan Financing
Talbot County businesses and private non-profit organizations can now apply for financial assistance from the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan program. Loans can be used to pay bills, payroll, and accounts payable, with long-term payments stretching up to 30 years.
Maryland’s Small Business Development Center has put together a fact sheet to help Marylanders apply for an SBA disaster loan.
Business Information
The Maryland Department of Commerce website offers comprehensive information for businesses, including a special section for those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website provides guidance for business operations during the COVID-19 health crisis.
Businesses with 10 or more people not specifically listed in the executive order are not required to close. If a business remains open, it is critical to follow social distancing guidelines and to take steps to prevent groups of 10 or more people from congregating in one area.
Tax Filing Extension
The IRS has moved Tax Filing Day to July 15, 2020. The Maryland Comptroller’s Office also will offer a 90-day extension of income tax filings and payments for individuals and corporate income taxpayers.
Unemployment Assistance
The Maryland Department of Labor can open bulk claims for employers laying off multiple employees.
