The Talbot County Council recently selected Advanced Life Support (ALS) system founding member Wayne Dyott as the county’s Most Beautiful Person at their annual “Maryland You Are Beautiful” awards ceremony at Easton High School.
One of eight peer-selected volunteers nominated for the prestigious award, Dyott began volunteering his time as an Easton Volunteer Fire Department firefighter and emergency medical responder after serving in the U.S. Navy.
The Easton native soon recognized a growing need for advanced life support services and came together to garner support for what is now Talbot County Emergency Services, providing extensive paramedic care 24 hours a day. His passion for emergency and community services includes his direct efforts to support the placement of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in public spaces such as ballfields and parks.
In addition, Dyott is currently an active volunteer with VFW Post #5118, American Legion Talbot Post #70, and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 648. He is a Life Member of the Easton Volunteer Fire Department with 51 years of service, Talbot County Paramedic Foundation – Founding Member 1985; Talbot County Advanced Life Support – Founding Member 1985; and Talbot County Emergency Services Advisory Board.
The “Maryland You Are Beautiful” Program recognizes individuals who make Maryland a better place to live, work, and visit. Nominees must be Talbot County residents at least 18 years of age who volunteer with an organization in Talbot County. The Maryland You Are Beautiful program is now part of the annual Governor’s Volunteer Service Awards recognition program, with recipients announced later.
Other Talbot County nominees included Rural Life Museum volunteer Linda Adams; 4-H volunteer Linda Brown; Talbot Interfaith Shelter volunteer Ann Davis; White Marsh Elementary School’s Grandparents Club Jacqueline Schwencer; Easton Elementary School volunteer Cindy Spurry; 45-year community volunteer Ann White; and Talbot County Public School volunteer Florence Wilson.
