PUBLIC INFORMATIONAL MEETING
PROPOSED ACCOMMODATIONS TAX RATE INCREASE

Notice is hereby given that the Talbot County Tourism Board is proposing an increase in the county-wide accommodations tax rate from 4% to 6%. When a guest stays in a Talbot County hotel, B&B, or short-term rental, they pay a 4% local accommodations tax in addition to a state sales tax of 6% for a total of 10%. The proposed increase would bring the total to 12%.

A Public Informational Meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room of the Talbot County Free Library located at 100 W. Dover Street, Easton, Maryland 21601 to discuss the proposed increase. Following a presentation on the topic, members of the public will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide comments.

The Talbot County Tourism Board meets quarterly on the second Wednesday of the month in February, May, September, and November. Meetings for 2025 will be held in person unless otherwise advertised on February 12, May 14, September 10, and November 12 at 8:30 a.m. Location to be determined.
